Monster and Me

“Monster and Me” a Short Story by Victor A. Davis

There once was a little boy lying in his bed. It was nighttime out, but he could not go to sleep. Although his Mommy and Daddy always said, “there is nothing to fear but fear itself,” the little boy was still afraid. You see, every night since before he could remember, he closed his closet door before he went to bed. And every morning when he woke up, his closet door was open. “It was a monster!” he tried to tell everyone, but everyone told him that there are no monsters. The boy tried his best to believe them, but he was still scared, and could not go to sleep. “Go away, Monster!” he yelled in the night. But he heard a voice in the dark, a furry whispery voice, say, “I will always be here.”
